Its cool bro, no wish for a debate here. The original question was why is there a cc written next to songs on the setlist. Since mike has changed keys on some of his songs nowadays to suit his voice, that seemed like the obvious answere to the question. You simply said in your first post that that is not it BECAUSE it would mean that its a completely different singing key when in fact, is exactly what he is trying to accomplish.
other times, mike plays with a capo, and wrote the songs with a capo because the chord shapes are just easier to play.
However, If your point was that he simply doesnt raise his guitar a half step, but only a full step on some occasions. Well then, you are absolutely right because i only know of songs that have come up a full step and not a half step. hense, capo on the second fret vs. capo on the first fret. Example, bad luck, it was originally in Ab when now its played in Bb and to play the open chords in the chorus, capo on the 2nd fret. Same with ball and chain. originally in Db and now in Eb and to play with open chords and to play the solo, capo on the 2nd fret.
I dont know of any social d songs that have only been changed from a flat key up a half step, capo on the 1st fret, so if that was mearly your point, well then, i totally agree.
I dont think he needs something on the setlist to remind him of that though. Maybe your right and it means something else.
they only play songs in flat keys because of the same reason why many hard rock bands do. Because tuning a guitar down half step just sounds much heavier.

Hey played "king of fools"? Great song. Easy to play. Tune down 1 semitone. G-C-D-G-E-C-D-G.
What a treat to hear a song not too commonly heard. My ex told me they played "dear lover" this past christmas. It was a treat for me to hear "like an outlaw" at hootenany last year.

ok, ok, i know im not the best at guitar but im far from a idiot about it, and im confused by you guys goin back and forth, now let me see if ive got this right, his guitar is tuned down a half step, for some songs he puts a capo on the first fret raising it to standard tuning and for others he puts one on the second fret which makes it a raised a half step, right?
(im not tryin to keep a argument goin or nothin im just confused)
Thats a shame the concert wasnt boot'd do you know any easy way to bootleg a concert? I heard a fm transmitter works good if you have somebody in the car recording it

An FM transmitter? Absolutely NOT the easiest method. Basically you just try to smuggle in a minidisc/DAT/tape recorder and roll with it. No big secret, really.
